Let’s welcome one of our customers, Daniel. He is the founder of a women’s fashion boutique based in New York. Daniel has been in the fashion retail industry for eight or nine years. His boutique started with wholesale. He wholesales clothes from different suppliers with their brand woven label at first. But now it is offering exclusive, customized styles with his brand label.

Overview of the Interview


Now, let’s check the highlights of the interview by asking Daniel some questions.

Interviewer: 

Firstly, let’s start with your background introduction. What’s your brand story, and what made you try brand-customized styles and labels?

Daniel:

When I launched my boutique, I focused on offering everyday wear. I sold to women in their 20s and 30s. I provided modern cuts, clean lines, and versatile designs.  But after a long-term run, I realized that just selling wholesale products made it hard to stand out. Most people within this industry were carrying the same items. 

So, I started thinking about creating my fashion brand with exclusive styles.  I want to sell something that feels more personal and unique.  I wanted custom tags, private labeling, and ideally, pieces that couldn’t be found elsewhere. 

After doing some research, I decided to customize my clothing brand.

Interviewer:

That must be a good thing since I noticed that there is an increase in your store's sales revenue. So next, could you share any impact on your brand recognition or performance after you began offering custom products?

Daniel:

Yes. My brand was greatly enhanced since I started having a brand label and unique style. Customers are happy to know that they are buying something unique that they can’t find on other sites. It gives my brand a stronger identity. 

In 2022, I made over $12K. But it’s nearly a 20 times increase in 2023, I made about $280K. There is a rapid increase in 2024. The sales revenue has reached over $380K for the wholesale year. The number was still increased in 2025, and I got about $500K till now. 


That’s a great increase. I am happy to see the increase in my sales revenue. And I want to mention my best partner who helped me a lot in the process - Shewin. I do enjoy their customization services.

I have been doing clothing customization for eight or nine years. Although my current results are relatively ideal, I also experienced many setbacks, confusions, and problems at the beginning. That’s cool. It seems that you enjoyed working with Shewin, so could you share how you learned about Shewin’s customization services? And why did you decide to try?

Daniel:

Of course. Firstly, I worked with Shewin because it provides high-quality products for my wholesale business. The product range is wide, and I was happy to work with them. Then one day,  one of their reps reached out to check in on my store’s performance.

2. Help me provide customization, such as larger sizes, according to the needs of my customer base
3. Hot-selling styles will be designed with some variations or added colors on time

The main reason I want to work with Shewin is that I found it reliable when I worked with it for my wholesale business. Moreover, I didn’t want to go through a long and complicated process.

So when I found out that Shewin could customize pieces starting with existing designs, I thought it might be a good opportunity for me. 

Interviewer:

That's really impressive. But customization can be complex, so could you share how Shewin’s customization service makes things easier for you?

Daniel:

Honestly, I was hoping it would be messy. I heard stories from other sellers about the challenges of navigating communication structure choices or sampling requests when dealing with factories abroad. 

However, Shewin’s process is very simplified. They assigned me a dedicated project manager who would guide me step by step. 

First of all, I need the Woven Label for my clothes. After comparing its pricing with that of American local designers, I found it’s much cheaper. And even they allow earring cards and necklace cards, which are quite cheap compared to American local designers. So, I decided to work with them. 

I reached out to ask them to label the product with my woven label.  They respond quickly, and the designer is patient. They can offer the most suitable services for me according to my requirements. And the neck tags do enhance my brand identity. That’s important.

After that, I decided to customize my wholesale clothes with my brand tag to show my style. I requested them to provide the sample and set a deadline for them, but I got the sample before the deadline. It’s a great experience for me.

After receiving the sample, there is a small change to the logo. I contacted them and they helped me with that adjustment. Then, I placed my first order in January 2023. 

You cannot even imagine how they helped. They take into account all the requests I make and confirm the details with me step by step until the final garment meets my requirements. They also ensure that the delivery is on time, as per my request.

That’s why I continued to work with them for the next 2 years, and the collaboration is an ongoing partnership.  They are patient and careful. The pattern maker and the factory are very attentive. 

Interviewer:

It seems that you have found a reliable partner who makes your business go smoothly! But, we are also curious about: Have you encountered major challenges during the process, and how did Shewin help you overcome them?

Daniel:

The only major hiccup was early in the process when I wanted a very specific woven label layout, and there were some formatting miscommunications. 

But I was impressed with how the Shewin team handled it. They arranged a video call with the production team, showed me physical label samples over the video, and reworked the tag until it was exactly what I wanted.

Few platforms can provide such quick responsiveness. Many suppliers would’ve pushed back or asked me to compromise. But Shewin worked with me until it was right.

At last, could you share your feelings about working with Shewin, especially in terms of their customization service?

Daniel:

For me, Shewin is one of the most flexible, reliable, and boutique-friendly suppliers I’ve worked with. Their customization service is accessible and not overwhelming.  

They’ve helped me grow my brand from a reseller to a distinct fashion label, and that’s not something every wholesale platform can offer. If I had to suggest something, maybe they could build an online customization dashboard in the future, so we can track orders or upload assets more visually.
